Spanish

Español

Born to Cuban parents, I had the privilege of learning Spanish as my first language. As an early simultaneous bilingual, I learned English by watching TV at a young age and when starting school. I kept up with my Spanish by speaking it at home with my family. In middle school, I took formal Spanish classes where I could practice my grammar and my writing skills. In high school, I took AP Spanish Language and AP Spanish Literature, where I practiced my advanced reading and writing skills. I am still fluent, to this day and I hope to use Spanish in a future career setting.

Japanese

日本語

While at UF, I have had the privilege of being able to learn the Japanese language for four years. During freshman year, I took Beginning Japanese one and two (five credits of each). During sophomore year, I took Intermediate Japanese one and two (five credits of each). During junior year, I took Advanced Japanese one and two (three credits each). During my senior year, I have been taking Japanese translation. Prior to coming to UF, I had little knowledge in the Japanese language. After college, I will continue learning it by self-studying and moving to Japan for work.
